1. A Profile of ZUST
Zhejiang University of Science and Technology (ZUST) is a full-time regular public university, which focuses on engineering, with additional disciplines in science, arts, economics, management, and education. Combining the technical know-how of German Applied Science Universities with its own experience, ZUST explores ways of cultivating international specialists with applied skills.
ZUST is located in Hangzhou, the capital of Zhejiang Province, which is one of the most prosperous provinces in China with strong economic growth, vitality and potential. The University is at the foot of Xiaohe Mountain, with a tranquil lake inside and rolling hills surrounding the campus, only twenty-minute ride from the most famous scenic spot in China--West Lake.
ZUST has more than 21000 students, 1200 staff members, including more than 340 professors and associate professors. It has 13 schools and offers 43 undergraduate programs across a wide range of fields. Furthermore, ZUST has 3 state-level key majors, 9 provincial-level key majors,1 provincial-level key lab and 4 provincial-level key disciplines. ZUST is designated by the Chinese Government as a pilot institution of Chinese-German cooperation in cultivating high-level career-focused talents, as the standing organizer of Chinese-German Education Forum, and as one of the first ten local pilot universities of implementing the national project of "Cultivating Excellent Engineers". The development and construction of ZUST is closely associated with its international cooperation. Since the establishment of ZUST, the University started its cooperation with Germany, and now it becomes an important platform of education and technology cooperation between Zhejiang Province and Germany. Up today, ZUST has successfully established formal cooperation with more than 30 universities in Germany, USA, Italy, UK, Australia, France, Japan, Korea, Holland, Belgium, Romania, etc. ZUST is still making strides in the development of international cooperation in the areas of faculty and student exchange, research and degree programs. Many honored guests and professors visited ZUST and worked here, including the former German President Roman Herzog and the present President Christian Wulff.
At present, ZUST has set up English-taught bachelor degree programs such as Civil Engineering, International Marketing, International Economics and Trade, Computer Science and Technology(Information Technology). Meanwhile, ZUST established bachelor degree program of Business Chinese for Chinese language beginners, and is ready to receive transfer students with Chinese language basic. With the deep development of international cooperation and the establishment of distinctive undergraduate majors, the number of international students is increasing significantly. There are more than 600 international students studying at campus each year.


2. Why ZUST
(1) ZUST is a public university directly under the guidance of Zhejiang Provincial Government and funded by Chinese Government and German Government through national projects.
(2) All international students are eligible to apply for 'Confucius Institute Scholarship', 'Zhejiang Provincial Government Scholarship for International Students' and 'ZUST Scholarship for International Students'.
(3) ZUST offers international English-taught bachelor degree programs such as national-level key major--Civil Engineering, provincial-level key major--International Economics and Trade, International Marketing, and Computer Science and Technology (Information Technology). Students can be enrolled without any Chinese language entry requirements.
(4) ZUST offers distinctive bachelor degree program---Business Chinese with no Chinese language entry requirements for international students. Students who have studied Chinese can join at any time.
(5) Students are eligible to acquire double degrees in Computer Science and Technology (Information Technology Management) conferred by ZUST and the University of Southern Queensland of Australia.
(6) Graduates majored in International Economics and Trade can receive a master's degree in one year by applying for MBA courses of University of Bridgeport from the United States.
(7) Free pick-up service is arranged at Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport.
(8) Exciting sports events and recreational activities are organized by International Culture Exchange Association, a student association, adding to the wonderful experience of students' life at ZUST. Free Chinese tutor service is also provided.

8.  Fees
(1) Application Fee: RMB 400 Yuan or USD 80.
(2) Books and Learning Materials: Chinese language students pay RMB 300 Yuan per semester in advance. The university will return the overcharge and demand payment of the shortage.
(3) Tuition Fee:
Study Tour Program: Fees depend on the tailored program.
Chinese Language Program: RMB 6,500 Yuan/semester or 13,000 Yuan/year.
General Advanced Program: RMB 7,500 Yuan/semester or 15,000 Yuan/year.
Bachelor Degree Program in Chinese: RMB 15,000 Yuan/year
Bachelor Degree Program in English: RMB 16,000 Yuan/year for English-taught majors of International Economics & Trade and International marketing.
RMB 18,000 Yuan/year for English-taught majors of Civil Engineering & Computer Science and Technology(Information Technology).

(4) Accommodation:
Single Room: RMB 1200 Yuan/month (1-student shared), including water bill and internet bill. Electricity bills should be paid by students themselves.
Double-bed Room: RMB 600 Yuan/month/person (2-student shared), including water bill and internet bill. Electricity bills should be paid by students themselves.
Room Deposit: RMB 1000 Yuan. It will be returned if all equipment is in good condition when students check out.
There are bed, wardrobe, desk, chair, bookshelf, TV, refrigerator, air conditioner, heater, shower in the room, public washing machine and public kitchen.
(5) Insurance Fee: RMB 300 Yuan for half an academic year or 600 Yuan for a year. All students are required to purchase insurance.
(6) Beddings: RMB 300 ~400 Yuan, if needed.
(7) Meals: Approximately RMB 500 Yuan/month or students can cook by themselves in the public kitchen.

10.  Arrival
1) After ZUST receives the application documents and bank transfer receipt of application fees, we will go through Visa Application for Study in China (JW202 form).
2) Within 10 days after receiving your application, we will send you Admission Notice and Visa Application for Study in China (JW202 form).
3) Admitted students are required to apply for Study Entry (X) Visa (more than six months) or Visit (F) Visa (six months or less) with an ordinary passport, Admission Notice and Visa Application for Study in China (JW202 form) to the Chinese embassies and consulates.
4) Please inform us of your arrival time, via phone, fax or Email no later than 10 days before you leave for China. We will pick you up as your requirements.
